This toy soldier, model number 31398, depicts the Confederate Flagbearer of the 1st Texas, with a 3rd issue wool bunting flag from the Texas Brigade.

This particular flag was issued to the 1st Texas after they lost their previous two flags at the Battle of Antietam. However, the fate of this flag is unknown.

According to Color Sergeant George A. Branard of the 1st Texas Infantry, in an account printed in the Galveston Daily News on May 2, 1899, during the attack on Little Round Top on July 2, 1863, his flag was shot from the staff and broken in three places. He was knocked to the ground and when he came to, he heard his fellow soldiers saying he was still alive. They helped him to his feet and a few days later, as they were retreating, a companion returned the flag to him after picking it up on the battlefield.

This toy soldier is a 1/30 scale and has a matte finish. It comes in a single figure box, making it a unique and collectible piece for any history enthusiast or toy soldier collector.
