Everything an infantry Marine learned came down to a simple, brutal arithmetic: someone has to shoot so someone else can move. Fire and movement is the oldest tactic in the rifleman's trade, drilled until it is instinct — one man or team pours fire onto the enemy to keep his head down, while another rushes forward in a short bound, three to five seconds at a time, about the length of the enemy's aim before he can react. Then they switch. In Vietnam, with its sudden ambushes and fleeting contacts, that discipline was often the difference between a squad that broke and one that fought its way out.

K&C sculpts the two-man moment: one Marine down on the ground with his M16 up, laying suppressive fire, while his buddy crawls forward past him — hit, by the look of him, but still moving. Both wear flak jackets, jungle utilities, and camouflaged M1 helmets. It is a fire-and-movement diorama in miniature, and it leads into the assault of Marines moving forward and the war's harder aftermath in the wounded Marine and the men taking care of a buddy.

King & Country model VN136. 1/30 scale (approximately 60mm), matte-painted metal. Two-figure set — a Marine firing and a wounded Marine moving — on sculpted groundwork bases. Boxed.
