French Grenadiers of the Guard, Head of Column
French Grenadiers of the Guard, Head of Column
This toy soldier set, product number 768, features the French Grenadiers of the Guard, Head of Column.
The set includes an Officer, Standard Bearer, two Sapeurs, two Sergeants, and two Drummers, all in 54mm scale. These figures represent French troops during the Napoleonic Wars.
The term 'Grenadier' comes from the French word 'grenade' and originally referred to soldiers who specialized in throwing grenades and participating in assault operations. This role was established in the mid-to-late 17th century and grenadiers were chosen for their strength and size.
Although the use of grenades became less relevant by the 19th century, grenadiers were still selected for their physical prowess and often led assaults on the battlefield. They were also known for leading the storming of breaches during siege warfare.
All of our hand painted Toy Soldier sets are packed in Red Boxes and made from quality white metal. They are painted with gloss enamels and can also be purchased as unpainted castings or as a kit with a color photo. Add this set to your collection today and bring a piece of history to life.
