This figure depicts a sergeant of the Régiment de Royal Deux-Ponts Chasseurs, wearing the uniform detailed in the 1779 ordonnance. The Chasseurs, positioned on the far-left flank as the ‘Compagnie de Chasseurs,’ played a significant role during the Siege of Yorktown. Arriving in October 1780, the regiment was placed center-left between the Régiment de Bourbonnais and Régiment de Soissonnais. Notably, 400 men led by Guillaume Deux-Ponts distinguished themselves in the October 15 assault on British redoubts, working in coordination with Marquis de Lafayette’s forces. This soldier captures the valor and tradition of the French regiment in the American Revolution.
