This set features six figures from the distinguished 23rd Azov Regiment of Russian Line Infantry during the Crimean War era. The unit’s hallmark is the iconic green cross on their regimental colors, with a central disc bearing the Imperial eagle, and royal cipher in each corner. These flags were carried prominently at the front of their battalions. The soldiers wear the distinctive black leather pickelhaube helmet adorned with a brass eagle plate, and a long shivel overcoat typical of the period. Each infantryman carries a rifle with bayonet fixed, complemented by a short sword worn by the color guard. The 23rd Azov Regiment was part of the Russian 12th Infantry Division, renowned for its massed column tactics during engagements such as the Battle of Balaclava. This set faithfully represents the discipline and tradition of the Russian line infantry in mid-19th century warfare.
