The Emperor Barbarossa, 1155–1190
This impressive mounted figure represents Friedrich Barbarossa, one of the most powerful and influential rulers of the Middle Ages and Holy Roman Emperor from 1155 until his death during the Third Crusade in 1190.
Barbarossa—known as “Red Beard”—was famed for his military leadership, political strength, and commanding presence across Germany and Italy. His role in the Third Crusade further cemented his legacy as one of history’s most formidable medieval rulers.
The figure is inspired by a historic equestrian monument in Goslar, Germany, and shows the Emperor seated proudly atop his mount, wearing a striking golden surcoat adorned with the imperial eagle. His regal posture and finely detailed armor reflect both his authority and battlefield experience.
Every element, from the chainmail and weaponry to the richly decorated horse tack, has been carefully sculpted and painted to achieve a high level of historical authenticity and visual impact.
Hand-painted in 1/30 scale with a matte finish, this King & Country figure serves as a commanding centerpiece for any medieval or Crusader-era collection. It pairs exceptionally well with knights, infantry, and castle settings to create a powerful and historically grounded display.
A majestic and historically significant figure representing one of the greatest emperors of the medieval world.
