The Fighting Priest
Model: MK249
Scale: 1/30
Finish: Matte
This striking 1/30 scale mounted figure portrays “The Fighting Priest,” inspired by Odo of Bayeux, the brother of William the Conqueror. Holding the title Bishop of Bayeux, Odo famously accompanied William during the Norman Conquest and is believed to have fought at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, as depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.
Clad in armor and ecclesiastical-inspired regalia, this mounted cleric embodies the rare fusion of religious authority and battlefield leadership seen during the medieval period. While bishops were often prohibited from shedding blood, many took active roles in military campaigns, leading and rallying troops in the thick of battle.
The richly detailed horse caparison in bold red and white, combined with the ornate shield and commanding mounted pose, creates a visually dramatic representation of Norman martial power. Finished in realistic matte tones with intricate armor sculpting and heraldic detail, this figure serves as a powerful focal point within Norman Conquest, medieval, or Crusader-era displays.
