By late 1944 an American infantryman who found a Panzerfaust lying in a ditch often kept it. The German weapon was everywhere in the wreckage of a retreating army — a cheap, disposable, single-shot tube firing a large shaped-charge warhead — and against armor it hit harder than the U.S. bazooka, punching a bigger hole and doing terrible damage inside the tank. The bazooka struggled to defeat the frontal armor of a Panther or Tiger; a captured Panzerfaust gave a rifleman a genuine chance against one. Both armies scavenged each other's kit as supplies ran short — the Germans reissued captured M1 carbines under their own designation — but the Panzerfaust was a prize worth carrying.

The figure holds the captured tube ready, its bulbous warhead unmistakable, in an M1943 field jacket and netted helmet. He is the tank-hunter of an urban-combat diorama: team him with the Infantryman with Grenade Launcher, the Infantryman Advancing with Caution, and the NCO Crouching with Thompson stalking armor through a ruined town.
