This toy soldier features a 1/30 scale matte finish figure of a Union Corporal in a state jacket, standing and firing.

While the common image of a Union soldier is often portrayed as wearing a forage cap and sack coat, the reality is that there were various styles of coats worn during the Civil War. Along with the 1858 sack coat and nine-button frock coats, short 'shell jackets' were also worn. Prior to the war, both northern and southern states issued gray short jackets, causing confusion on the battlefield. Eventually, all northern states adopted blue for their soldiers. In 1861, New York State militias and volunteers were issued distinctive short jackets with an eight-button front, stand-up collar, shoulder straps, and a single belt keeper loop on the left side, piped in sky blue. This product is a single figure in a box, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
