Union Infantry Sergeant at Rest
Union Infantry Sergeant at Rest
This toy soldier, depicts a Union Infantry Sergeant at Rest.
The position of 'Parade Rest' is accurately portrayed according to Hardee's revised manual, with the rifle across the body and the left hand over the top near the muzzle. The right foot is placed 6 inches to the rear left knee, forming a 'T.' Both U.S. and C.S. regulations state that the rifle should be positioned in the hollow of the right shoulder.
In the 18th century, soldiers would stand at parade rest without their rifles, with their hands clasped together in front. However, in modern times, the U.S. soldier stands at parade rest with their hands placed in the small of their back. A less formal way of standing was 'In Place-Rest,' where the soldier could stand with either foot on the line and hold their musket however they pleased.
This toy soldier is 1/30 scale and has a matte finish. It is a 1 piece set, making it easy to display and add to your collection. Add this Union Infantry Sergeant at Rest to your collection today and bring a piece of history to life.
