A Confederate brigade formed for an assault in two lines. The front line — typically two regiments — moved forward at common time until ordered to double-quick at two hundred yards from the enemy. The second line — two more regiments at distance behind — followed in support, intended to reinforce a breakthrough or cover a retreat. Skirmishers from the front-line regiments deployed ahead in dispersed pairs, drawing fire and feeling out the enemy's position. The whole formation — perhaps fifteen hundred men — covered three hundred yards of ground on a two-regiment front. At Gettysburg's Pickett's Charge, the formation covered seven hundred yards in the open. The Confederate soldier in this figure, charging at right shoulder shift, is part of that formation.

This W. Britain figure depicts a Confederate infantryman charging at right shoulder shift — body angled forward in stride, rifle musket carried on the right shoulder with bayonet fixed, mouth open, right hand outstretched. He wears the regulation Confederate frock coat in light gray-blue, tan-butternut trousers, broad-brimmed slouch hat, the brown vest visible under his coat, the bedroll and haversack across his chest, and the cartridge box on his belt. The figure works as part of any multi-figure Confederate assault diorama. Pair this figure with Rebel Steel Confederate Charging for additional figures in the charging line; with Confederate Soldier Attacking with Bayonet Leveled for the contact moment; or with Confederate Infantry Officer Advancing No.2 as the officer leading the charge.
