This W. Britain figure depicts a Texas Brigade infantryman in mid-stride, rifle musket at right shoulder shift, mustache and weathered face suggesting a Texan well into his second year of campaigning in Virginia. He wears the regulation late-war Confederate kit: light gray shell jacket, butternut trousers, the dark forage cap with brass insignia, the rolled blanket and haversack across his chest, the knapsack on his back, and the cartridge box and canteen on his hips. The bayonet is fixed. The pose works as part of a brigade-line diorama paired with other advancing Texans, or as a solo march figure for a movement-to-contact scene. Pair this figure with Texas Brigade Advancing at Right Shoulder No.2, the matched advancing figure for a multi-figure brigade front; with 1st Texas Flagbearer (3rd Issue) as the colors for the brigade line; or with Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, the corps commander under whom the Texas Brigade served from the Seven Days through Appomattox.
