Federal Company Officer With Pipe No.2
Federal Company Officer Standing with Pipe, No.2
Tobacco was used by many men in the 19th century as is often seen in period photographs. In antebellum America, tobacco was consumed in various forms: chewing tobacco, snuff, cigars, and pipe smoking. Fragrant blends of tobacco were enjoyed in elegant and expensive pipes like the one this company officer holds.
He wears the regulation single breasted frock coat with light blue rank shoulder boards on the shoulders. From 1852 through 1871 the U.S. Army Regulations called for all infantry officers to wear a burgundy waist sash, although wearing it in the field was not universal. He also wears a Chasseur style officer’s kepi decorated with an Austrian knot. 1/30 Scale Matte FinishSingle Figure.
