The 2nd battalion of the Régiment de la Reine sailed from La Rochelle for Canada on 3 May 1755, with the new commander Baron Dieskau. Not all of it arrived. Off Newfoundland the Royal Navy captured the transport Lys, and four of the battalion's companies with her. The rest went on to Lake Champlain. That September two La Reine companies fought in Dieskau's attack on Johnson's camp at Lake George, the first French regulars to see battle in North America. The battalion then campaigned without a break: Fort William Henry in 1757, Carillon in 1758, and Sainte-Foy in 1760. It sailed home to France on 16 September 1760, eight days after Canada surrendered.
This is the battalion on the march. The officer walks out in front with his sword at his side, and behind him the drummer carries his drum slung on his back, in a red coat with blue cuffs and white lace. Six privates follow with their muskets shouldered. All the men wear grey-white coats with the regiment's red cuffs and collars, blue waistcoats, white gaiters and black tricornes edged in white. March them onto a display alongside French Infantry Guyenne Regiment, another of the battalions that came out with Dieskau. Add French Infantry for a colour party, and hang Don Troiani's Battle of Carillon Fort Ticonderoga 1758 print behind them.
