Marshal of the Empire and close confidant of Napoleon, Jean-Baptiste Bessières was a key figure in the Emperor’s rise and reign. Serving with distinction in Italy and Egypt, he later became commander of Napoleon's Guard Cavalry. This finely sculpted mounted figure shows Bessières in the green uniform of the "Guides of the Army of Italy," reflecting his early days in service. Known for his gallantry, style, and loyalty, Bessières was killed in action in 1813—deeply mourned by the Emperor himself. A superb centerpiece for any Napoleonic collection.
