Introducing the Black Militiaman of the Spartanburg S.C. Militia, a proud representation of the county's rich Revolutionary War heritage.

With more engagement sites than any other locale in the United States, Spartanburg County holds a special place in American history.

Dating back to 1775, the Spartanburg Regiment was one of the first to be organized. While ongoing research continues to uncover the contributions of men of color during the American Revolution, we do know that 41 served in Continental regiments, 21 in militias, and 9 in the navy in South Carolina. Of these, 48 were free men at the time of their service.

Our figure depicts a member of the Spartanburg Militia as he may have appeared during the Battle of Cowpens on January 17, 1781. This 1/30 scale figure, based on the Soldier Study by Don Troiani, features a matte finish and is sold as a 1 piece set. Add a touch of history and style to your collection with the Black Militiaman of the Spartanburg S.C. Militia.
