A Confederate cavalry trooper carried three weapons and used each at a different range. The saber, drawn for a close-formation charge, was a shock weapon — most effective against unsteady infantry or other cavalry caught off balance. The revolver, usually a Colt Army .44 or a Southern copy, was for the moment after the charge struck home or for short-range melee where blades were too slow. The carbine, a shortened breech-loading rifle, was for dismounted skirmishing — Confederate cavalry routinely fought on foot, holding ground with carbine fire while horse-holders took the mounts to the rear. The three figures here carry all three weapons between them.

The three-figure set captures a charging cavalry section in mid-stride, each trooper showing one of the three cavalry weapons in use: the leader with sword raised over his head in the classic saber-charge pose, the middle trooper firing a revolver one-handed at full gallop, the third with carbine at the shoulder. All three wear gray Confederate cavalry shell jackets with bedrolls strapped at the cantle, mixed blue and butternut trousers, slouch hats and kepis. Pair the set with General Lee in overall command, place them as outriders for the Confederate Infantry Marching with Flag column, or face them off against Union Cavalry in a meeting-engagement charge.

Tradition of London model 0917. 54mm scale (approximately 1/30), white metal, hand-painted in gloss enamel. Three-piece set: three mounted Confederate cavalrymen at the charge — one with raised saber, one firing revolver, one with carbine at the shoulder — on classic painted bases. Supplied in the Tradition Classic Red Box. Allow 2–3 weeks delivery.
