The paratroopers usually get the credit for Bastogne, but American armor reached the town first. On 18 December 1944, Combat Command B of the 10th Armored Division — the "Tiger Division" — rolled into Bastogne ahead of the 101st and pushed small tank-infantry teams out to the eastern approaches. At Noville, Longvilly, and Wardin these teams met the leading German columns head-on and fought savage delaying actions, trading ground and tanks for hours the defense desperately needed. By the time the ring closed, the Shermans of the 10th Armored were part of the garrison, dug in around the perimeter alongside the airborne through the coldest weeks of the war.

The model carries a tank commander at the .50 cal, the 75mm gun, antenna, two removable stowage sets and scale rope, in the winter markings of the 10th Armored. Set it in a Bastogne perimeter diorama beside the paratroopers of "Welcome to Bastogne" and the tank destroyers of the 705th M18, with the Tanker Standing Gesturing directing the crew.

W. Britain model 25136. 1/30 scale, matte finish. Seven-piece set — one M4A3(75) Sherman with a tank-commander figure, two removable stowage sets, a .50 cal machine gun, antenna, and a length of scale rope. Boxed.
