Texas A&M Cannon Crew
Texas A&M Cannon Crew
The Cannon Crew is an integral part of the Parsons Mounted Calvary. The cannon is actually a Model 1902 three inch field gun. The three inch field gun was the Army's preferred field artillery piece until World War I when the 75 mm was adopted for munitions compatibility with the Allies. It was the late 1970's when the cannon was first found at a bonfire cut site. In September 1982, "The Spirit of 02" was first fired on the Corps of Cadets Quadrangle. In 1984, the cannon became part of Aggie football tradition by firing a shot every time the Aggies scored.
The 6-piece set includes one replica Model 1902 three-inch field gun, two senior cadets and the sign that reads "Warning Cannon Fires When Aggies Score". All figures in their "Midnight" uniforms.
All figures are a standard 1:32 scale or 54 millimeters tall (approximately two and a quarter inches), made of white metal, sculpted, cast, assembled and hand painted in England.
