Union General U.S. Grant
This toy soldiers set features the iconic Union General U.S. Grant, a prominent figure in American history.
Grant was not only a military officer, but also served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. His nickname 'Sam' was given to him by his army colleagues, who thought 'U.S.' stood for 'Uncle Sam'.
During his time at West Point, Grant's passion for horses earned him the reputation as the 'most proficient' horseman. He graduated in 1843 and entered military service as a Brevet 2nd Lieutenant. He later served in the war with Mexico and distinguished himself at the Battle of Palo Alto.
In 1862, Grant re-entered the US Army and eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant General, the highest rank since George Washington. This 1/30 scale toy figure features a matte finish and comes in a single box, making it a perfect addition to any collection.
