Union Cavalry Corporal Mounted No. 1 – Federal Horse Soldier, 1863
Model: 31504
Scale: 1/30
Finish: Matte
Set Includes: Single Figure (boxed)
This finely crafted 1/30 scale figure depicts a Union Cavalry Corporal during the height of the American Civil War. Mounted confidently on horseback, the soldier exemplifies the professionalism and superior equipment of the Federal cavalry compared to their Confederate counterparts.
By 1863, every Union cavalryman was issued a carbine in addition to his revolvers and saber, making them one of the most versatile mounted forces of the war. The corporal portrayed here carries the New Model 1863 Sharps Carbine — a .52 caliber breech-loading weapon renowned for its reliability and ease of use from horseback. Its shorter barrel made it ideal for mounted combat, though its range was less than that of standard long rifles.
W. Britain’s sculpt captures this moment in perfect historical detail, from the accurate uniform trim and accoutrements to the horse’s motion and natural pose. A superb representation of Federal cavalry mobility and discipline, this piece makes an essential addition to any Civil War collection or diorama depicting Union mounted operations.
