The six figures are dressed alike because the Union army was dressed alike. The Federal Quartermaster Department under Montgomery Meigs supplied roughly 700,000 men in the field with food, clothing, ammunition, and equipment on a scale no army in history had managed before. Every soldier received the same dark blue frock coat or sack coat, the same sky-blue regulation trousers (changed from dark blue in late 1861), the same black forage cap, the same brass-stamped accouterments and white cotton cross-belts. The Confederacy never matched it. Where Confederate regiments showed mixed dress and improvised kit, Union regiments rolled into camp looking like the same regiment that left it.

Six identical privates at the right shoulder shift — bayonets fixed, dark blue regulation frock coats (the 9-button dress coat, distinct from the 4-button sack blouse worn in field service), sky-blue trousers, black forage caps, white cotton cross-belts supporting black leather cartridge boxes and bayonet scabbards. The figures are designed to deploy as a six-man marching squad. Pair the column with Union Infantry Marching with Drummer setting the cadence at the head, with Union Infantry with Color Bearer for the color guard, or set them advancing against Privates Confederate Infantry Marching for a meeting-engagement scene.

Tradition of London model 918. 54mm scale (approximately 1/30), white metal, hand-painted in gloss enamel. Six-figure set: six identical Union privates marching at right shoulder shift with bayonets fixed, in regulation dark blue frock coats and sky-blue trousers, on classic painted bases.
