On the Pacific islands the Marines faced Japanese snipers who lashed themselves into the tops of palm trees, hid in spider holes, and let whole units pass before firing into their backs — men with no intention of surviving. Countering them was work for a Marine's own snipers, chosen from the best shots in a Corps that had always prized marksmanship. While the rifle squads carried the semi-automatic Garand, the sniper kept the bolt-action M1903A4 Springfield with its telescopic sight — slower, but more accurate at long range. His war was one of patience: lying still for hours, reading the ground, and taking a single shot that had to count. This figure carries that scoped '03.
K&C sculpts the sniper on the move, the scoped M1903A4 held ready across his body, eyes scanning, in green Pacific fatigues, a camouflage-covered M1 helmet, full pack, and ammo belt. He works the edges of a patrol diorama — paired with the watching Marine as his spotter, moving with the alert walking Marine, and covered by the standing ready Marine as he settles into a hide.
King & Country model USMC067. 1/30 scale (approximately 60mm), matte-painted metal. Single foot figure on a sculpted groundwork base. Boxed.
