These are the soldiers the Allies fought — the German army, the Waffen-SS, the Luftwaffe, and Japan's Pacific infantry, rendered in finely painted metal for the collector and the diorama builder. Spanning the whole war, from the sands of North Africa to the snows of the Eastern Front and the last battles in the West, the range is built around real weapons, real units and real men, presented as history rather than legend.

The desert war centers on Germany's most famous soldier, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, the "Desert Fox" whose Afrika Korps pioneered turning the deadly 88mm gun against tanks. That gun — the 88mm Flak 36/37 — anchors a full battery of guns, crews and command, as feared for killing armor as for the aircraft it was designed to shoot down.

The infantry carry the weapons that changed warfare: the StG-44, the world's first true assault rifle and ancestor of the AK-47, and the MG42, whose rate of fire earned it the nickname "Hitler's Buzz Saw." Grenadiers in greatcoats, winter parkas and camouflage smocks fight across the Eastern Front, while lone tank-hunters like the Panzerknacker stalk armor with the Panzerfaust.

The collection does not shy from the war's hardest history. The Waffen-SS figures are presented factually — elite combat troops who also compiled a record of atrocities, an organization declared criminal at Nuremberg — and among them their most notorious commander, Joachim Peiper, whose battlegroup carried out the Malmedy massacre.

In the air, the Luftwaffe is led by the ace Adolf Galland.
