The 1st Texas Infantry's flag carries the battle honors "Seven Pines, Gaines Farm, Malvern Hill" — the regiment's engagements in the Peninsula Campaign of 1862. At Gaines's Mill on June 27 of that year, Hood's Texas Brigade made the breakthrough charge that broke Fitz John Porter's V Corps line above Boatswain's Creek — the only Confederate breakthrough of the Seven Days. Lee had ridden up to Hood and asked, "Can you break this line?" Hood answered, "I will try." The brigade lost six hundred men in less than half an hour. The breakthrough at Gaines's Mill made the Texas Brigade's reputation as Lee's shock troops.

This W. Britain figure depicts the 1st Texas Infantry flagbearer in regulation Confederate gray — single-breasted gray frock coat, the slouch hat, the cartridge box and belt — holding the regimental flag with the Lone Star and the painted battle honors of the Peninsula Campaign. The figure pairs naturally with the 4th and 5th Texas flagbearers in the same range to reproduce the brigade's three regimental colors in a Hood's Texas Brigade diorama. Pair this figure with 4th Texas Flagbearer (Wigfall Pattern); with 5th Texas Flagbearer for the three-regimental-flag brigade tableau; or with Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, the corps commander under whom the Texas Brigade served from the Seven Days through Appomattox.

Scale: 1/30 (60mm). Matte-painted metal. W. Britain model 31388. From the American Civil War range. Single figure with stand-mounted flag, supplied painted and ready for display.
