Confederate Flagbearer 3rd Arkansas Flag
This Toy Soldier 31394 Confederate Flagbearer features the 3rd Arkansas Flag, representing the Texas Brigade during the Civil War.
This regiment was unique in that it was assembled in Virginia but later assigned to Brigadier General John Gregg as part of the Texas Brigade. The Confederate War Department recognized the importance of brigading troops with regiments from their home states, and the 3rd Arkansas was one of only four western regiments in the Army at the time. The regiment's woolen flag, which is slightly larger than standard Richmond Depot flags, was made by the ladies of Fredericksburg, Virginia as a token of gratitude for the kindness shown to the citizens of the town.
