The Régiment de Berry was a line regiment of the French army, not one of the colony's Marine companies. Its 2nd and 3rd battalions sailed in 1757 bound for Louisbourg, but were sent on instead and landed at Quebec at the end of July, the regular reinforcements Montcalm had been asking for. A year later they were at Ticonderoga. On 5 July 1758, with Abercromby's army coming up Lake George, the Berry battalions were ordered to begin a log breastwork and an abatis of felled trees on the heights in front of Fort Carillon. Three days later that wall stopped every British assault.

This fusilier stands at ease with his musket held low at his side, raising a clay pipe in his right hand. He wears the white-grey wool coat of the French line infantry, with Berry's red cuffs, red waistcoat and red neck stock, and brass buttons. His black tricorne is edged in yellow tape and carries the white cockade of France. A buff crossbelt carries his cartridge pouch, a brass-hilted sword hangs at his hip, and tall white gaiters are buttoned to the knee. Put him behind the breastwork with French General Marquis de Montcalm. For the attack below, add 42nd Grenadier Standing Firing, No.2 and 42nd Battalion Coy Standing Firing, No.2.

Very well painted and accurate. Shipped well and promptly. The regiment matches my own fine paint job of an Imrie Risley French soldier from years ago. Now he has a friend!
