Washington’s Life Guard – Reaching for a Fresh Cartridge
Model: AR077
Scale: 1/30
Finish: Matte
This figure represents a member of the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard—formally known as “His Excellency’s Guard,” or “Washington’s Life Guard.” Formed in March 1776 at Cambridge, Massachusetts, this elite unit served as General George Washington’s personal bodyguard throughout the Revolutionary War.
Chosen from among the most disciplined and trustworthy soldiers of the Continental Army, the Guard’s duties extended beyond personal protection. They safeguarded critical military correspondence, funds, and official papers. Washington himself ordered that only “sober, intelligent, and reliable men” be admitted into their ranks, reflecting the immense trust he placed in them.
This figure captures a Guardsman mid-battle, reaching for a fresh cartridge as he prepares to fire his musket. His distinctive blue-and-buff uniform with red facings and white crossbelts mirrors the colors of the Continental Army’s finest. From the siege of Boston to the encampments at Morristown and the final victory at Yorktown, Washington’s Life Guard remained steadfast at their commander’s side until their disbandment in 1783.
A striking tribute to the professionalism and loyalty of America’s first elite military unit, this 1/30 scale matte-painted figure embodies both historical authenticity and collector-grade craftsmanship.
