This finely sculpted figure depicts Winfield Scott, one of the most influential American military leaders of the 19th century. Commissioned as a captain in the light artillery shortly before his 22nd birthday, Scott first served as a corporal in the Virginia militia before rising through the ranks to become a commanding general of the United States Army.
Scott was famously nicknamed “Old Fuss and Feathers” for his strict insistence on military discipline, professionalism, and proper dress. His early career was marked by controversy when he openly criticized the corruption and incompetence of a commanding officer. Although briefly court-martialed for his remarks, Scott was later vindicated when the officer was removed for misconduct, earning Scott the respect of fellow officers and troops.
Over his long and distinguished career, Scott played key roles in several major conflicts, including the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, the Mexican–American War, and later the American Civil War. His legacy includes both battlefield leadership and major contributions to the professionalization of the U.S. Army.
Hand-painted in 1/30 scale with a matte finish, this museum-quality miniature captures Scott in period uniform with officer’s sword and bicorne hat. An excellent addition to collections focused on early American military history, the War of 1812 era, or notable commanders of the 19th century.
